CT put into operation at FVA

In January 2008, the CT system was successfully put into operation in the radiation bunker at the Forestry  Research Institute of Freiburg i.Br. / Germany.

Currently optimisation tests and  integration with a parallel laser 3D measurement of the stems to correlate the X-ray data of the root inside with the outside tree trunk contours.

3D Computertomograph (CT) for trees

Towards the end of  2006, the development and construction of a wood-CT for Forest Trial and Research Institute of Baden-Wuerttemberg (FVA) was initiated.

It was around the end of 2007 that the 9 tons heavy plant, which can x-ray and scan up to 5 m long and 800 mm thick tree trunks, got transferred to the customer with a special transport.

Together with the company MiCROTEC we have developed this unique CT scanner, which produces 3D images of the tree trunk interior for research and industry,  in a very short time, literally manufactured and put it into operation.
